About Urban Optics
Urban Optics is the brainchild of San Luis Obispo Optometrist Dr. Dave Schultz. He opened up shop in 1990, and hasn't looked back since. Located in picturesque downtown San Luis Obispo, Urban Optics looks more like a gallery than an optometric office. The storefront displays an exclusive selection of unique eyewear, and the custom interior has won architectural awards and appeared in national publications. Home to frame collections such as SALT, L.A. Eyeworks, BEVEL, Barton Perreira, Garrett Leight and more, Urban Optics is where vision and style collide.

We encourage you to make a fashion statement with your eyewear.

Dr. Schultz performs eye exams to check for vision problems and diseases, and prescribes eyeglasses and/or contact lenses as needed.
Dr. Schultz’s career started in 1981 when he completed the Doctor of Optometry program at State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry after earning his bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of California, Davis. He has a current therapeutic license to practice Optometry from the California State Board of Optometry.
In his nearly 40-year career, he has been named Young Optometrist of the Year by the California Optometric Association, and has served as a contact lens clinical investigator. He has also served as president of the Sacramento Valley Optometric Society and has received national recognition as Optometrist of the Year by Eyecare Business Magazine.
